Mystery frame
I have a frame which is very puzzling:
- its has no stock lug but this area, while being a smooth curve, protrudes as far back as a frame with stock lug. - safety area is blank but appears to have been milled slightly deeper on its entire surface. It does not show any trace of polished bright safety area (down position). - safety slot is long and 1906 type - it has grip safety features but block with safety spring and safety pivot hole is non standard compared to std 1906. - it has horizontal C/N proof on left fwd frame rail above assembly lever. I hope a few expert forum members can help me identify it. Rgds, Alain Capel |
Re: Mystery frame
Alain, Now that I've had a chance to do a bit of research, I suggest that you check page 270 of Lugers at Random re M1934/06 Mauser. If your frame did not have the grip safety provisions or a lanyard loop, and had an "N" prefixed serial number, I'd say it was one of the new E German production from the early 1950s. Tom h

Re: Mystery frame
Hello Tom,
Thanks a lot for your message. My frame has a lanyard loop, and I imagine it could be a frame with added grip safety. I will check page 270 of Lugers at Random right now. Kind regards, Alain |
Re: Mystery frame
This is a wild guess, but it might be what is called a "1913 Commercial". What is the caliber and serial number range?
