Broomhandle gunsmith?

Hi all,

This comes as an oddball request but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a gunsmith for an oddball project. I acquired a .45 ACP 'Shanxi' Broomhandle 'kit' but it seems to require more fitting/gunsmithing than I am capable of doing and I don't know if the locals can do it (they seem to work more on ARs and Glocks and the like).

The man who sold me the kit gave me his gunsmith's name but the chap is in Vermont and I can't seem to get past voicemail on his phone.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I don't have a clue as to what you're planning but I would love to see pics of your 'kit'... :D

You might try "The Broom Closet" down in Florida. Their address & phone are in a post here somewhere, under [of course!] a broomhandle thread ...

Rich, the kit's not very exciting, alas, but I'll get you photos later today (the seller provided me the photos when I inquired). It's just all the bits and bobs of a Broomhandle but not all parts were numbered to the gun (barrel, bolt, and frame were supposedly numbered) but the rest requires fitting and, well, I can't get mine to fit together and my gunsmith seems to have noodled with a part and it's stuck (magazine floorplate).

Not a big deal but I'd like someone who knows C&R weapons more to work on it (I can work on a regular C-96 but this is too oddball!). Sadly, the Broom Closet said they wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole (though not quite in those words!).

Unfortunately our "armourers" now can mainly work on GLOCKs and similars, and it's getting more and more difficult to find someone really expert on broomhandles and/or Lugers.
If at least we were on the same continent I would suggest you to get in touch with my armourer; this afternoon I have been at his premises to get one of my 1911 back.
