Cocking problem
I have read the "sticky" regarding this problem. My weapon is a 1918 DWM. I took it to the range last week just to confirm functionality. The first round chambers and fires, next cartridge chambers but pistol will not ****. The pistol is clean and well lubricated. Spring plunger on the sear bar is free and well lubricated. I did notice that the upper end of the trigger lever is worn literally paper thin. Any thoughts that this could be the problem? Thanks!

Sounds like someone was trying to adjust things by shaving off the trigger lever. Amateur attempts to "improve" a Luger's trigger often fail.
The trigger linkage on a Luger is a precision fitted area that requires some skill to do properly. I would consider getting it to a gunsmith with experience working on Lugers. LugerDoc on this board has that kind of background, and often has parts in stock. Marc |
Thanks--I noticed that the "pad" on the upper arm of the trigger lever is worn "or shaved" so badly as to be non-existant.

If the trigger lever has been modified to the point that the upper pad has been completely removed, you can either have the lever built up by appropriate welding, and then reshaped and fitted, or fitting a replacement lever would be even easier. I don't believe that the L-shaped lever is a numbered part (because it is too small to stamp numbers on...)
LugerDoc probably has reproduction levers (and perhaps some OEM as well) in stock. |
I do have both original and new repro PO8 trigger levers in stock, but these parts usually have to be fitted for a proper trigger pull & striker release. TH

Thanks, Gents!
