CAW Borchardt C93 model gun
1 Attachment(s)
Bottom line - if you have wanted one of these, there are 2 available in LA right now for $420 each plus shipping.
Here's a little more background . . . There are several companies in Japan that make accurate models of real guns. As you likely know, most (real) guns are illegal in Japan. One of those companies is CAW. They released a c93 model about 2 years ago. Sheepherder ordered one and authored this post back then: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=30085 For my part, I wasn't a member of this forum back then, but I otherwise learned of these and have been trying to get one for the past 2 years. Ultimately this put me in touch with CAW itself. And ultimately CAW sent 4 to the US this week. Two of those have already been bought, and the other two are available. They also have reproduction c93 manuals for $25 each. I picked up a couple noteworthy details about these. One of the most interesting is that Mr. Hongo (the designer) had always wanted to make a Borchardt model, and indeed, I was told the entire reason he began making any model guns (at all) was to develop the skills to ultimately be able to make the Borchardt. Mr. Hongo posted 4 youtube videos showing his progress during the design phase. In one of those videos you can see that the parts on his model exchange with a real c93: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfmZpfK7_Hc Here's a link to the company's page: http://www.caw.co.jp/caw/borchardt/ Finally, I am attaching a picture they sent me of one of the guns that is sitting in LA right now. If you are interested shoot me a pm and I will send you the name and email of the person you should contact. Just so this is clear, I have zero connection to or interest in this - I am passing it along as a heads up. |
They are excellent models, and if you have the skills to do a CAD/CAM workup (and access to a CNC workstation), you could start cranking these out in 4140 and make a mint... :D
The above price is excellent too. ;) |
Is it made of steel?
|
By my understanding it is mostly plastic and zamak (zinc alloy). They added some steel to make the weight more realistic.
