Help: grip strap marking S.L.Pol.1003?
 

Can any one help me ID what this marking stands for?

It means it was weapon #1008 of the Sächsische Landessicherheits-Polizei, the Saxon State Security Police (equivalent of the Prussian Sicherheitspolizei) that was founded in 1919 and merged into the Sächsische Polizei (equivalent of the Prussian Schutzpolizei) in 1921-22 (HWIS pp. 211-12). May I know what this mark is on with a description of the item?

Don, Thanks a bunch. The marking is on a 1896 C96 broomhandle mauser. I'll try to add some photos here if I can figure it out. Please let me know if you can access the photos.
