Picked this one up a few months ago. No collector value, but a great conversation piece. All parts had been refinished in a deep gloss. Came with some imitation stag grips. Some aftermarket walnut grips and my first effort at strawing parts in the wife's oven. Looks like a different gun now.

Very nice transition.

I dunno...The stag grips give it a kind of 'outdoorsy' look... :D

How long is that barrel???

The wood grips are a nice color! Where can I get a set like that?

Grips look similar to those sold on ebay by seller from Thailand. I bought as pair for around $50 and they are quite nice on a shooter

A nice improvement to your Luger. It has taken on a more"classic" image.

Looks like a VERY NICE shooter! I would like to own one of these. Long barrel and everyting.
Usually I like the military version when you can match yourself with the real situation when shooting a pistol.

That is quite a transformation. It goes from looking a bit odd and woodsy to looking quite elegant. The strawing complements the grips and the finish nicely. Please extend our thanks to your wife.

so having never refinished before is that a bluing dip or brush on? Very interesting change of grips, I like the wavy look in them. Were you able to keep from rounding over the edges when you polished?
And more curiosity have you done any internal work on it for trigger pull or anything?

The gun had already been re-blued when I purchased. It a deep, polished finish. Some of the markings have been blurred by the polishing.

I agree with brown woden grips it's a lot better!

I know that I'm a bit of a boring traditionalist, but this doesn't happen only with LUGERs; for instance I prefer modern 1911 if they are as similar as possible to the original J.M. Browning project, I dont'even like GLOCKs when they get too different from the original Gaston Glock producs!

I prefer much more the wooden grips than the fake stag grips.
You did good with the strawing and the gun will be an eye catcher at the range for sure.
