My First Luger

Paid 1,500.00 for it. So looking for any input on it.

1942 Mauser-made Luger, nice sharp edges, honest wear, retains safety paint, Mauser hump on frame, "P.08" on side, no 'million dollar chip', no evidence of Police safeties, looks good. If all matching numbers, a good buy.

Pics of magazine needed; same with loading tool. Condition of bore?

Import marking anywhere?

Uh-oh...Barrel has correct serial as frame, but no land diameter???

Looks like a keeper to me. If the internals all match, you did well at $1500 given the holster, tool, etc.

I believe that they stopped marking bore diameter at some point near the end of production.
But not certain specifically where.

Thank you everyone. Plan of dissemble tomorrow. Will take some
more photos and post. Also will take pic of magazine, inside hostler and take down tool.

No import marks. Same story I'm sure has been repeated more times than the number of Lugers made. GI bring back!

So military WWII?

Any tips about grip removal? I'm afraid to touch them!

There is information on proper grip removal here on the site. Do not attempt to remove the left grip prior to reading these tips!
The area around the safety tends to break off if the grip is leveraged out. To check i fthey are matching to the gun, the best method is to remove the right grip only and look through the frame to see if the left grip has matching numbers.

Did first step of take down. Only marking on grips I can see is left side has a "V".

Barell has some visabel fouling in it But not full of rust.

Pistol is filthy. Will do full take down and clean hopefully this week.

Mag has FXO and 37 under bird.

Could not find any markings on the take down tool.

You did very well on this purchase.

Appears all matching and collectible. With magazine, tool and holster you purchased $800 or so below market values.

It was military accepted, and the black based magazine is considered matching for this gun.

The grips were not necessarily numbered on these 1942 guns made toward the end of production.

Use 0000 fine well oiled steel wool to gently remove the red oxide from the frame. Don't be too aggressive when cleaning this. Remember, it's been through a war...

for a WW2 luger, it looks nice, you did good! (I like earlier ones, so prejudiced :D)
