I've considered liberating this 1915 DWM, but I'd like to know what these numbers on the back of the frame above the lanyard loop are? Based on my search of the forums, I think they are a rack a number... is this right? also any historical info on the unit would be appreciated, thanks gents.

Your questions are well over my pay grade, but that is one interesting Luger, very nice with original finish.

Is the size of the numbers on the backs of the grips correct?

Don't know the meaning of those numbers. To make sure about finish, need to erase the white filler on the stamp, and check halo around the stamp carefully under good light. Some guns were refurbished in Weimar era when it was relatively new, and those Weimar contractors knew German guns well (of course), their work is hard to detect. Not saying this being one, but better check everything.

Both markings are pre 1922 Reichswehr Provisional markings. 3.K.N.13. is probably 3rd Kompagnie, Nachrichten Abteiliung 13.
