International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Just a line to Remember what happened 70 years ago.
Hoping that the new generations will study History, so will not allow the repetition of the Holocaust. Sergio |
Sadly, it has already started again in Europe.

In honor of the 70th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz, cable channel AHC [formerly The Military Channel] had full uncut Schindlers List on last night, no censoring, no commercials. Three hours, 8pm to 11pm. Hard to watch. :(

I just got through reading "Doctors From Hell" by Vivien Spitz, and "Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eywitness Account" by Dr. Mikos Nyizli. The latter describes the medical "research" in a matter-of-fact, almost clinical way, which makes it even more bizarre. One event that was hard to read about was when Dr. Nyizli (a Jewish doctor on "sonderkommand") is ordered by Dr. Mengele to interview a father and son about their handicaps, just to have some background data for the autopsy he has to perform on them minutes later.
I don't know why I torture myself reading books like that, but I find it important not to forget. I have been to Dachau and Bergen-Belsen, and it was an almost surreal experience to be there thinking about what happened many years ago. |
My dad, 506th PIR, serving his obligation, had quite a few pics he personally took at a camp. Very graphic and would quiet any of the denial crowd.
He retained a pretty negative atitude as a result. He was around 19 or so when that took place. |
Thank you everyone for remembering. Schindler's List is definitely a classic, but I actually found the movie Defiance as difficult to watch, but more inspiring. Anyway, here are a few words from Theo Haas, Holocaust survivor and gun-rights advocate:
I feel every Jew should be armed to the teeth, as should every American. As a group, we can stand up up Liberal Jewish gun haters and also to Gestapo minded anti-gun police who want total control of the people. Liberty and freedom can only be preserved by an armed citizenry. I see creeping fascism in America, just as (it was) in Germany, a drip at a time; a law here, a law there, all supposedly passed to protect the public. Soon you have total enslavement. Too many Americans have forgotten that tyranny often masquerades as doing good. To deny that an unarmed citizen could benefit from being well-armed in a predicament such as this (holocaust), is to Love a Lie more than to love the truth! I found some links that remind us of the HOLOCAUST of 70 years ago, I know haven't got much to do with our Lugers, still unfortunately it's part of our history and we can't afford to forget it:
