WWII Holster
 

http://IMG_1004Hi guy's..I have my fathers WWII pistols and this holster i was wandering if you can help me with some info on it..
I will upload pics of the pistols later but I wanted to see if I can load this pic first. There is a stamping on the back by the strap on the left side but I can not make it out yet will have to get some better eyes than mine..

The hardware on the holster was added by some GI. Try putting some baby powder on the area of the manufacturer. Tap the holster and then blow and or wipe the excess powder off. Many times this will allow us to read them. Bill

It impresses me that Germany was really big on pins, medals, arm bands, patches, etc. Is my impression correct? What did these pins on the holster signify?

And daggers, don't forget daggers. Seems like every swinging body had their own special knife, from the motor pool to the young kids.
And while those pins certainly don't belong there, they may have value to the right guys.

The hardware was then as long as I can remember and I'm 65...The bottom name is close to CTUT_GART , the number in the middle is 1240 or may by 1940 not sure and the name at the top I can't make it out I'm sure somebody can..The pistol is dated 1940 and all the numbers on it has a 42 on it. I am wrong about the 42 on the pistol it's 94 on all the numbers..There is a 42 on the very top of the body of it..

Not sure I'm understanding what you are saying, which is why photos help so much.
There were Lugers dated 1940 and coded "42" on the middle toggle link, on top.

Mrerick. Thanks for the info, Stuttgart is the name, the rest I take your word on.. I know very little about these guns so please bear with me..Any help is appreciated... dju, the date on the barrel top is 1940, the 42 is on the middle toggle link...All the parts have a 94 on them.. I took a few more pics but don't have time to post pics right now because I forgot how I did it last night..haha

The three metallic pins are the three devices, (cockade, oakleaf wreath and eagle) off the front of a German Army officer's service hat. One can only speculate why the GI added them to the holster.

Did they also belong to the former pistol's owner? Where they added later? Who knows?

The eagle certainly looks familiar, for sure. I was wondering which sort of cover would have had it, aren't there several different subtle variations in eagles in this general pose? What did the oak leaf wreath signify? And did Germany pass out more medals than other countries? I'm not impressed that Americans gave out many knives and daggers--particularly to kids!

I guess the three devices on the holster will remain an unanswered question as my dad has passed on and he never talked about how these items all came about.. His P35 pistol also has the Eagle device on it..His 8MM Mouser rifle was sent home a piece at a time my mother said, with the bayonet... If anyone's parents are still living that has any kind of history you need to get it now before it's gone for ever..
