P08 with holster
I have a chance to buy a P08 in good condition I have not seen the pistol just pictures the owner says it has all matching numbers with two mags. with matching numbers and a holster with tool he wants 3000.00 does this sound like a fair price if pistol is in good or better shape and is a bring back any thoughts would help

Really need more info and ideally pictures. It all depends upon what type of P08 it is, who made it, the condition of all the items and what markings/documentation it has. Sounds like the seller could be a little or way high but, then again, if the P08 is a Krieghoff with matching mags and holster, it could be a steal.

The description given is far too vague.
In these cases it's absolutely crucial to post some close and detailed pictures of the gun. Anyway welcome to this Forum made by LUGER enthusiasts. Waiting for more info. |
In all likelihood the gun is way overpriced. Yes some variations will bring that money but most do not. My suggestion would be to get more information and do your research BEFORE you spend a dime.

I think I got the pictures figured out it was a bring back but no papers

Salt blued byf41 with matching magazines? Definitely a hot one these days. This variation can go $3k if it's very nice and original. Although the photos taken by phone is low in quality, look and feel of the gun is good. Matching magazine is important in valuation, need better pictures.

P08 with matching mags holster and tool
I see there is a 41 on the top where I usually see a four number like 1941 was there some markings like that just two numbers sorry just trying to get into the luger I went to Simpson luger and they real show a lot of different models this may take a lot of studying

It seems to be in pretty good shape, but unfortunately the photos don't give sufficient detail to be more specific. The mag is 8410 M. Is there an M under the serial number on the front of the frame?
I'm still inclined to consider it overpriced, but let's see what the others have to say, because sometimes I'm just a cheap a**. Also, just for your entertainment, go to Simpson, Ltd, and look up this year to see what they are getting for theirs. Also, on the top of the toggle, does it say BYF or 42? Does it say P08 on the left side near the safety? dju |
The hotness of byf is hard to explain. Visited Barnes 'n Noble today, and sat there spending half an hour reading "17th Edition of Modern Gun Values", it's an interesting book because one editor was Joe Schroeder, along with a few other editors.. I am interested in their classification of Exc/VG/Fair. I bet they did not buy many collector guns in recently years (Joe passed away last year, the book was probably published in 2012). The valuation of Mauser made Lugers are simple, in excellent condition, K Date=1500, G Date=1250, S/42=42=byf=1000, Postwar Interarms=800 or 850 if have box. That's probably price of 1980s? So attractive!! Popular Mauser Red 9 was 1350, price is also very attractive. What did not change much was Luger 1900, it's listed as 3500.

The Pistol looks nice so far but I LOVE that holster!

41 = 1941; 42 = 1942. |
Thanks for all the info I'm not sure if I'll get it if I do I'll post better pictures

The mag serial looks like a 6410 u to me. The seller does not include the one frame serial number photo that would confirm a match.
With one matching magazine and that nice holster rig I would be more happy at around $2,500. |
