1935 G date S/42 Question.
Hey guys i just recently got an all matching numbers 1935 G date luger and after researching it some im suspecting its an early Police issue gun. My only question is there is a little letter code under the barrel on the frame of a "d" just wondering if anyone can tell me what that little letter stands for.
Research says G date lugers with the early e or f in that very spot are most likely police issue guns so i was wondering if mine is even older? because of the d letter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Came with 2 matching mags and holster(kinda beat up).. |
There are a few things to look for so photos of the gun, magzines and holster would help.
The D shows that production had advanced from 0001 up thru 9999 one time with no suffix, then again thru the A block, then B block, etc. It does stand to logic that the D block came before E or F, but the book guys will have to tell you which blocks, if any, were specifically designated for the police. There were a couple of extra police safety gadgets that we can look for in photos too. But regardless, any matching G date gun is a good score. Welcome aboard; dju |
Yes my gun has the Politzei gadgets on it:)

Well, that's a pretty good hint...

Is there a "sear safety" -- a piece of stiff leaf spring mounted on the left ridge on the receiver?

First of all welcome to this Forum made by LUGER enthusiasts. In cases like this would be a very good idea to post some detailed pictures of the gun so the experts of this site would be able to give you a pretty precise answer. Sergio |
Yes it has the sear safety that pops up once placed on safe..

I think that you have confused the normal safety (that blocks the sear when the gun is on safe) with a special feature used only on police guns.
Search this site and you should find some pictures of the one we're talking about. Better yet, post pictures of what you're trying to analyze. Marc |
