70s Mauser Lugers
![]() Went to a gun show today with no Luger content whatsoever. However, I did pick up a couple back issues of American Rifleman. One of them, December 1979, has an encyclopedically comprehensive article about Mauser's P.08 production in the '70s, written by Francis C. Allen. Lots of excellent information for anyone collecting these guns. The most interesting comment to me, however, is that Mauser prototyped a .45 cal. P.08, but decided that it was too huge and unwieldy to produce (more's the pity!)
The article has a nice double-page spread photograph of the various models Mauser produced in the 70's, I've scanned it in two sections to include here and in the following message. --Dwight http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/MauserLugerLeft.jpg |

Re: 45 Mauser
Rick, I was thinking, if they decided against it, there must be a prototype or two built. Probably melted the poor babies down,

Here is the photo of the Mauser .45 Caliber Luger...

Re: May be some mistakes
Hi Rick,
very impressive. What was the Interarms catalog year? It is still available on the USA? Ciao Mauro |
