Truly a great man/entertainer/comedian who built the morale of our troops in three wars, often with little regard to his own safety. God saw fit to allow this rare individual to live to be 100. What's sad is that few under 30 know who he was!

I have the opportunity to meet him once - briefly.

A remarkable gentleman.

Also a very smart investor. He ended up purchasing much of what is now Orange County when it was literally orange groves, just outside LA, then slowly sold it off parcel by parcel to developers of the expanding city. He left a considerable estate when he passed away.

I wonder who got his golf club!

I was in Cam Ranh Bay when this show was there in Fall 1967.

Indeed it did, to a degree, because I remained in the vicinity of the company orderly room while the rest of the soldiers normally there went off to the show.
