What are the chances?
 

I was in a gun shop the other day, and I noticed the guy had alot of Rare and unusual guns but the real BIGGIE was still to come. I asked the guy who owned the place if he had any german militaria, and what he said next made me feel weak in the knees! He says the best Nazi item I have is an Adolf Hitler presentation LUGER.... REPEAT LUGER!!! He claims he has an offer of $80,000 for the Luger and a signed letter from Hitler to the lucky officer concerning the Lugers. He says he keeps his "Treasure" in a bank vault. How true this is I don't know

But I'm gonna go back and try to talk him into letting me see The "Treasure" I kinda doubt he even has it but who knows. Said he bought it in the 60's at a auction in Louisiana for $700.00. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Sounds like the .45 Luger than my uncles brothers, son has in his barn...


But you never know Brandon, if nothing else, maybe you'll see a nice Luger that has been silvered, I mean nickeled!

Hitler Presentation P38
 

I have been offered this P38 4 or 5 times for only $1,000,000 which the owner said is a Hitler gun given to his Generals...one of ten. The owner said the proof is the number '4' on the front sight which confirms this is presentation gun no. 4!!!


It is in all ways a standard AC44 #8636-C according to the drawing sent to me. After 3 or 4 contacts,I have had to inform the elderly owner that he is NUT and not to bother me any more. The more subtle comments were ignored.


I presume it is still out there for those of you who want to specialize in 'Hitler Guns'??


by the way, one of the 10 Reichert Gun laws is; NEVER PRESUME THE OWNER KNOWS WHAT HE HAS...GO LOOK AT THE GUN!!

This reminds me of a time about 3 years ago. I was at a garage sale in Garden City, Mich. Some old guy there was a guy I met at an pawn shop earlier. He was sitting there stunned at the prices that Lugers were going for. I started talking to him and he said that his brother was General George Pattons driver until three months before the general got killed. He told me that his brother sent all sorts of stuff home in cardboard boxes from Hitlers lair. One of the things that was supposed to be sent home was Hitlers original hand written manuscript to "Mein Kampf". The guys brother died and he did not know what the children did with the boxes of stuff. I just shrugged it off. But it still plays in my mind.

Reminds me of the gentleman who paid over $3/4 million for Napoleon Bonaparte's diary, written in faultless English.......he also has a very fine collection of Roman coins, bought from the same dealer a few years previously, all with uniquely valuable and rare B.C dates.

It is well documented that Hitler dictated Mein Kampf to Rudolf Hess while in Landsburg Prison. Hess probably typed the manuscript...but anyway, Hitler did not hand write it!

Well, that sets my mind at ease abit. Garden City, Mich has some older neighborhoods and the basements are not very dry. I always pictured Hitlers book and some pistols sitting some where and just rotting away. But I just shrugged it off anyway. I wasn't about to go on a big search for these people. I was hunting this areas garage sales for an older generation of folks that might have a Luger in a closet somewhere. My usual area has seven other guys scrounging around. Kinda fun. I hear all sorts of tales and get all sorts of lectures about guns.

Another one of kind item
 

About a year ago I was in Kiev (Ukraine) where apart from business trips I like searching around flea markets for collectibles, old stuff, useless stuff that would just appeal to me or anything that makes me feel like digging up a treasure or just a good laugh.


Going through the junk displayed by a freezing street antique dealer, the man learning I was French and looking around to make sure nobody would hear, whispered that he had something very unique and valuable for me.

He took out of his pocket a small (4" high)statue of Napoleon.

That made my French heart pump my blood faster.

Picking it up and studying it, it was finely cast bronze with the right kind of patina that doesn't usually belong to a small Eiffel tower kind of souvenir molded the same morning.


The knowledgeable seller shared with me the invaluable secret this effigy held.

It was a Seal !

But not an official one, a personal one. It had belonged to

Napoleon's Wife.

As proof of this he showed her initials skillfully chiselled underneath: " M.A."


What ? M. A. ?


Yes, sure replied the wise historian: Marie Antoinette ! !!
