I think I call Dibs...

..on this. http://www.gunsamerica.com//92726845...-Eagl.htm?wl=1 Strange that it seems misidentified, this place has listed plenty of Lugers all along. What do the aficionados of the 1900 think of this offering?

I have been trying to log onto the site since before I posted the first time... Whatever does load takes forever, no luck accessing the login page itself.

I'm getting ready to overburden my Discover card. (Just checked available balance, and my financial pants, in this case, are down around my ankles.) I just bought a Lee Loadmaster, based on the proceeds of the Dillon SDB I sold today, but have not deposited the cash on my card.

It is a slow loading site for sure. Better photos would be nice, but from what I can see it appears to be a good buy. I doubt you are going to find a 1900 AE anywhere close to that price, let alone cheaper. Hopefully gun in hand will be equal to the advertised condition. Good luck...it is THE classic Luger.

I just bought one (for considerably more). That one looks pretty nice, and it may just be a case of poor photographic angles and glare (in every picture no less), but I see little or no signs of strawing on any of the right parts, and little if any written or photographic confirmation that they are not refinished. The extractor in particular looks black to me (but lots of glare makes it hard to tell), as does the safety lever. The right side of the mag release looks to be almost flat black in the 4th picture??? No mention of original finish in the ad, correct? The price seems a little too good for it to be original. It would definitely be a good idea to get a good pic of the area under the safety lever before making a decision. Hope it works out for you.

Here's a pic of the Eagle stamp and extractor on the one I just bought...

:crying:

ithacaartist 10-12-2014 01:41 AM

Jeez, I just don't have the clout right now--that's what the crying was about. If it were next month, a choice would exist, but, unfortunately, I have none now. I'll undo my dibs, somebody else better grab it...I don't think I can sell Erma parts that fast.

Those parts do look pretty dark, but even reblued (the gun, not self), I would have been glad to adopt it. I just checked 1:14 AM and it says it has an offer. I hope it's new owner is somebody who will give it a good home, not just flip it.

I know your frustration.. been there :typing::eek:

It's Baaaack

Well, this time the title of the listing is correct. Curiously, it's a hundred bucks more. A little bird told me that it has a broken main spring, which is not mentioned in the description...

I bought a NOS flat 2-piece mainspring from a seller on eBay [Tom was OoS] for $50...Just sayin'... ;)

Luger 1900 American Eagle 30cal,nice used condition, all matching serial numbers except for the magazine and takedown latch.

I also don't recall that...

Edit: just checked the original listing...Nothing about the takedown latch...

Non-matching, broken mainspring, and they raise the price???

I won one about a year ago, when I detected within myself the desire for a 1900--just in case, I figured it would be an important spare part if I got involved with one.

The pistol also has some small parts blued that shouldn't be.

You think ~$1k is more what it is worth? The "temporary" buyer said it would be OK to divulge my knowledge or the gun's issues gained by his experience. I could theoretically put off my purchase of tires for my truck by putting on the two of each set I have, to pass inspection next month...

I think it is worth ~1k...But his price is $1,700...IMO too much... :)

I think I would waffle even at $1,200...

I have no place I have to be any more, so this choice would be a no-brainer for me... :D

Local junkyards have used tires...As does Craigslist... ;)

sheepherder 10-23-2014 10:24 AM

Seller is listed in South Dakota; 3% added for CC. Plus $25 S&H. That's an additional $76 plus whatever your local FFL receiver charges. Call it an additional $100.

Central NY gets hit hard in Winter; if you really need your truck, good tires might be more important. I just bought two more for my SUV from Tire Rack; shipped to my home. Kept the two old ones for spares, tread still legal, just uneven.

I can walk to my supermarket (and have), so getting stuck in a snowstorm isn't life threatening. It has an ATM; I have direct deposit.

Decisions, decisions. Once upon a time, when I was just out of the military and attending SUNY @ Buffalo on the GI Bill [ridiculously underfunded], I had to decide whether to feed my dog for a day or two until my check arrived, or feed myself.

Decisions, decisions. Tires or Lugers??? :D

Of course. There's an old saying..."If you starve with a Doberman, the Doberman starves last..." :D
