7.D.18 Unit Luger # 2787 Dated 1915
 

I bought this P-08 missing the toggle assembly and would like to know which unit it belonged to and if it is a DWM or Erfurt? I've put an Erma Erfurt 22LR kit into it for shooting with Franzite grips.

I'm guessing your unit mark is for a police unit, since your frame is a 1930's-1940's Mauser production, (see Mauser "hump" on frame ears).

The frame is Mauser, the barrel/receiver is DWM.

Hi David, Welcome to the forum! I'm not so sure about the "Mauser hump", can we see a clearer photo of the upper rear portion of the frame. If I'm correct, your gun is a 1915 DWM and the unit mark stands for the 7th Dragoon Regiment, weapon #18.

Are you sure the marking is 7.D.18, or is it a partially obscured L.D.18? I think Doug may be right that it is a police marking

P.S. After reading Norme's post, I took a closer look and what I thought was the Mauser hump may be actually an illusion caused by the rear of the receiver

David, does the Frame serial number match the balance of the major assemblies?

I do not see a Mauser Hump... (now)... but thought I did.

I see the upper receiver slightly protruding from the rear that at a quick glance LOOKS like the Mauser hump. I made the same incorrect judgement when I looked at the photo. If you look at the upper receiver at the front of the frame, it is slightly set back from the front.

The unit marking is a '7' not 'L'. Also since the barrel and frame match as 2787 and parts match as 87, with the whole toggle assembly missing, it is unlikely to be a DWM-Mauser match up.? Thanks for all the comments, here are a couple more pics.

The back of the receiver is strait, no bumps like a Mauser P-08. So I guess this is a DWM made pistol.?
