More about Luger trigger and sights

One big headache, the trigger pull on my 1936 P08 has been solved more or less to my satisfaction. The tuning article and E-mail Hugh sent led me to disassemble the beast and polish a number of items with crocus cloth. I believe the firing pin and sear were decent, but there were burrs on the sideplate lever, the trigger notch that engages the lever and the trigger return spring had a sharp edge digging into the frame. I now have a usable 5-6 pound trigger. Next on the list are the sights and some grip repairs or changes.

Re: front sight pusher

Sir, Have you tried firing it after the trigger work? You know better than I do but pounds of pull = movement on barrel, especially on a relatively short one like a Luger.

Have you had someone else fire it? Buddy of mine was about ready to get rid of a BHP because of similar problems, long time shooters can have long time habits, especially with a new gun. He had another shooter try it and it was dead on.

Just my .02$ worth.

There is a front sight pusher on eBay right now - not cheap but the

real deal. One for a Luger! and you are competing against Hugh Clark to win it! Good Luck.

John :(

You had to let the cat out of the bag! I had no competition until you went and opened your big mouth! Now everybody on the Lugerforum will be bidding against me! Thats ok tho, cause I GOT DEEP POCKETS!

Re: front sight pusher

Be VERY careful with the seller of this item; he is using a new name to conceal an interesting history

Do a search of the message board for July 2001 and type in the words "front sight adjustment tool". There are a couple of pictures of a Swiss adjustment tool.

"WTF"?

What is so HARD TO UNDERSTAND about all this????

IF YOU WANT TO POST SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT A DEALER/BUSINESS - YOU BETTER BE PREPARED TO BACK IT UP! Just posting "negative" stuff 'cause you have an ax to grind somewhere along the road DOESN'T CUT IT. Yea - that means you too, "Shadow".

Posting something negative from "what you "think" you know", or have heard second hand, or rumor, or speculation - DOESN'T CUT IT...

What is so blasted difficult to comprehend about this policy - hell, it is throughout the TOS and Forum Decorum pages! Read them! Understand them! Refer to them BEFORE posting this junk...

Yea - this thread will be edited.

John Sabato 04-05-2002 12:46 PM

My sincere apologies John D. - I just wasn't thinking

when I participated in that discussion. I was just trying to make a joke out of someone else's feable attempt at disguising the victim (dealer). I was derelict in my focus and keeping this forum on track. Please accept my apology.

It won't happen again.

Thanks John S. and Shadow...

Yea - it happens, and I appreciate the replies..!

Now - you folks better get back to talking about Lugers, or I'll have to open up a new "off-topic" thread about Browning Hi-Powers or something...

Thanks again....
