1906 AE Proof Question
I know I've been laying low lately but I have been busy with grandkids and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! I did manage to pry myself away long enough to pick up a nice 1906 AE in 9mm that looks to be all correct SN# 33460 except that it has no proof marks but for a shield with a strike through it under the barrel. Witness mark is perfect and the pistol shows no sign of ever being tampered with. I will get some pics up when I get time. I know proofs are a little all over the place on these pistols but this one has me scratching my head a bit. Cheers to all. Clint

Hi Clint,
There is a range of early 1906 AE Lugers that have no proofs. Yours is obviously one of AE's in this range. |
Hi Clint welcome back to this forum. I'm loking forward to see the pictures of your Luger.

Anybody know if this barrel proof mark is good to go?
|
The "shield" shaped mark on the barrel isn't a proof mark, it is a DWM inspector's mark. Not too unusual on these early guns, Pretty nice looking piece by the way.

That's a great 1906 AE for sure.
It has just the correct amount of patina and wear. Congratulations! Douglas. |
