4 Attachment(s)
Hi Folks,
Looking for info on a DWM Luger I picked up. Its from an old friends estate and trying to find outits history and of course value would be great. Serial number under barrel and front of frame 4325, barrel has script M and frame has script C Crown over N proof marks matching 25 everywhere I can see Looks to be a .30 caliber marked made in Germany finish only worn at side plate high spot brow leather holster is pretty worn out with no markings except a spot that might have had a name or numbers scratched off. thanks ahead of time for any help |
mid 1920's DWM luger
having a different letter on barrel and frame makes it a shooter - but show us pictures of each (clear if you can) $600-$750 - 9mm are much more wanted by folks :) welcome to the forum |
You have what is known as an Alphabet Commercial manufactured in the 1920s.
Worrisome are the mismatched letter suffixes on barrel and frame. Are you certain they are not the same letter? The photos are not sharp enough to really assess condition, but value for a mismatch commercial is in the $600-$700 area. |
Very clear M on barrel and C on front of frame.

Did they even use the suffix on both the frame AND the barrel? I was thinking not, but don't have a commercial in front of me at the moment. But it seems very odd to have the correct # but not the correct letter.
Bottom line is we really, really need to see clear photos of both numbers and the suffixes following those numbers. Try taking the photos outside during the daylight, no flash, tripod if possible. dju |
Then sadly a mismatched shooter.

Full serial #s including suffixes should be on the barrel and front of the frame on DWMs.

Not questioning your reading abilities, it is, as said above, just too much weird! And welcome to the forum! Douglas |
This is a mismatch commercial Luger. The photos are very fuzzy, but if this is a Crown N Alphabet Luger, then it shouldn't have a military type number marking on the side plate and takedown lever. I can't tell much more.

I will try to get more detailed pics from my phone downloaded to here, wish me luck!
