There can be a lot of work bringing one of these beasts back to life, but I'd seriously consider this one.
I'm currently restoring a HD Panhead with sidecar. |
What an old beauty!!

Bwahahahahaha!!! :D
It's a Totenkopf motorrad!!! http://images.craigslist.org/01010_e...iP_600x450.jpg With SS plates!!! |
BMW Motorcycles
Back in the early 1960s….I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base……and lived off base for awhile…..my landlady told me that at the end of WW2….her father was in Munich as a Dispatch Rider in a Wehrmacht Unit…..and rode a BMW…..since the War was over……he just rode it home…!!!…took it out in the barn….repainted it….and rode it for over 10 years…….then sold it…. :( she didn't say for how much…..but I just thought it was an interesting story …….Hans Fischer

This probably belongs to a reenactor, who recently painted the unit insignia on it.
You also want to check carefully to make sure this is not a post war Russian build from the production line they took back home with them. |
Looks like the one from Indiana Jones III...minus the fun gun!
|
Here is a photo of me and some friends with some of our toys! I'm the Major sitting in the Kubel.

Check out this website,if you want to ride around in style.
The modern Russian copy of a old German BMW motorcycle. They have a dealer near me. I kinda like them! http://www.imz-ural.com/ So many toys,so little money!:banghead: Bob |
I love those Kubelwagens! The MG42 on the back would be a nice addition for the shop....
|
Having a sidecar adds a whole new perspective to this collectible. Some had a driven third wheel; the sidecar wheel was connected to the rear axle of the cycle (or had a full width rear differential). I can't tell if this is one of those, but that would definitely be cool!
I hope John buys it...I want a ride in the chair!!! :D Edit: I can see a brake drum on the sidecar wheel...That makes me think the third wheel is driven... And the VIN plate says '1941', so it's not pre-war... |

Very very nice!
I have an early 1956 R60 that I am restoring. What is interesting is that parts are very much available for the old BMW's even one as old as this. So! Go for it and enjoy the ride! Vern |

Here are photos of a number of originals. I've spotted at least four different configurations of hubcap. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...electedIndex=5 BTW, the still I posted was from the set of "USS Sea Viper" a movie released about two years ago that went straight to video. You can see me handing the U-boat commander his orders in this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WIZPzR28uI |
That movie looks really interesting. I would like to see it. Do you know of any link online where it could be watched?
|
Netflix, maybe? I bought a copy for myself on Amazon.
|
The driver of the Kubelwagen looks like Sgt. Shultz from Hogan's Heroes... :D
|
That's Tim, the vehicle's owner. Come to think of it both the driver and my NCO bodyguard with the MP40 in the front passenger seat are both named Tim and they are both LEOs!
|
I called down to the last remaining Video rentals around to see if they had it to rent, a long shot I thought. They did me one better and they had the DVD in the $1.99 for sale bin. It's now mine.
