Artillery Barrels, A closer look
1 Attachment(s)
I noticed the diameter of each barrel was thicker under the sight. Is it thicker for reinforcement for added strength or a base to fasten the adjustable sight. It had to be a chore to cut down the barrel to accommodate this added thickness for what ever reason. Got to luv them like none other! ~~~Eric

Nice Cirelaw, Makes me want to buy a Artillery Luger.
Also I would have to say that the extra thickness is for the sight, and it dose make the barrel more stable in strength. If they milled for the sight with out the thickness it would weaken the barrel. |
Thanks You for your post! a Whole lot of work went in to each~ It doesn't appear at any time they changed or modified. A Luger Masterpiece. Don't mess with the best!! Eric

Because of the standard Luger barrel thickness, the area around the back sight needed to be raised in order to gain proper sight alignment with the front sight. It was cheaper to simply leave a raised ring around the barrel rather than to mill down leaving only a raised sight base, (more or less like the front sight has).

Brilliant, they performed a great job. It really looks like one piece! The workmenship is superb including all the proofing. Thanks as always!! Eric

Pretty simple milling operation, actually.
