Luger Attachment Stock iron thread sizes
 

I was able to purchase on eBay an original Luger attachment iron that was stripped of all its parts. The attachment was sent from tracey250788 in the UK who said he picked it up from a factory sale some years back. I also have a reproduction Luger Stock, and this iron is the real McCoy.

I removed all the parts on the repo stock iron and fitted the repo parts to the original lug. Took a #14 electrical crimp and use that to make the shaft fit, and the setup works great. But, I do not like the two long repro screws as they are obviously cheap screws. I would like to obtain a higher quality screw. Does anyone know that size threads that are used here? TIA

A little confusion here..."Stripped"...Do you mean you removed the blue finish??? Or that the threads are stripped???

I was just over at Ace Hardware yesterday getting some Metric SHCS to repair damage to my 3in1 mill/lathe/drill. They have the Metric equivalents of our coarse and fine. You may get lucky and be able to determine the thread size & pitch.

If you do a Search here (I know, it's asking a lot :rolleyes: ) there is also a guy in the UK IIRC Evans who makes custom screws. Other members have gotten old Whitworth & Metric screws from him. :thumbup:

Edit: FWIW, I have a new repro stock attaching iron in front of me and the screws are #8-32, not Metric...I know that doesn't help you, just for general info...

I think he means no locking lever, screws to hold the lever in nor stock attaching screws. All he has is the iron itself.

These screws are not metric. I had a dozen or so made some years ago and they are some weird thread size I didn't bother to remember since I would never need it. They cost me $25 each but when you need one you need one. As I recall the tap and die to make the screws was quite out of the ordinary and extremly expensive because of that. I don't guess a guy would buy a set like that for two screws...?

By "stripped", I meant no parts were included. Sorry for the confusion. The screws that I want are the long ones that attach thru the wood

The 'repo' screws work just fine, just that they are not quality screws. I'll see what I can find that are 8-32. Kind regards.
