Commercial vs. Military Question
Hello All,
I've just recently purchased a DWM commercial artillery, 1920. Haven't gotten the gun yet so I've got some questions. What is the difference (other than chamber date) between the war produced and the commercial? Any quality differences? etc... I have a Mauser S/42, so I thought this one would be nice to keep it company in the safe. Thanks Forrest |
Nice of you to find a pet for your Mauser

Re: Commercial vs. Military Question
Hi Forrest,
The 1920 Commercials were mostly made up from Imperial Era Lugers with left over Great War spare parts used as needed. So in terms of quality, thereâ??s not much to choose between Great War Military and 1920 Commercial Lugers Best regards, Kyrie Moderator - Cruffler_Forum on Yahoo Groups "The flame free C&R Forum." |
Aren't commercial guns 7.65 mm, ( .30 cal), and Military guns 9mm? (EOM)
|
No, they came in both,
The Swiss used the 7.65, as did others. I think you just see the 9 mm mnore often, and you are more inclined to see older 7.65 on the older guns.
As an example, most of the Bulgarians were switched over to 9 mmm, but were originally 7.65. ed |
German were 7.65 after Versailles (EOM)
