What is it?
Does anybody know what this mark is and what it means? It is on my Luger and I cannot find it in the mark examples.
Still trying to ID my Luger. thanks http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=2938 |
It is an Imperial proof stamp. It means the toggle assembly at that point passed inspection. It is a pre-WW2 inspector's mark.

what alan said, a proof marking - they are found on the right side, breachblock and barrel
|
Hi, You posted this query on the Commercial Luger forum. The eagle firing proof on the breech block would only be found on military Lugers, a commercial gun would be crown/N proofed.

Hi Norm,
This is the Reich's Chancellery gun discussed earlier that is all commercial with the exception of the mismatched toggle train. |
hey this is Frank...post all the pics of the gun...please so the forum can help you ID it!!!
|
Frank, there is a complete thread with photos of this pistol in the New Collector's Forum under "Newbie".
|
I see the other posts...sorry
|
Does anybody know what the "D" mark is on the front of the front sight right above the barrel opening?
|
I've seen this proof mark amusingly referred to as the "flaming squirrel"...
