Hitlers Guard Luger, What???

I'm trying to find out what it sold for and whether it was legit!! "Strange" http://www.rockislandauction.com/vie...id/55/lid/1589 It was in 2012~ Now its interesting there are only 51 lugers up for auction next month. There are usually 4 times that! I wonder what if any effect that will have on prices! http://www.rockislandauction.com/search/aid/1023

Eric, this has been discussed here before (probably when it was last listed). I believe you commented on it. :)

An interesting design, in that it used skin conductivity as the 'on' switch. I don't recall if its provenance was ever proven, but there were a lot of odd modifications/attachments to all kinds of Third Reich weapons.

I've seen it (or its twins) listed on several sites over the last 10 - 12 years. Perhaps someone else can recall what it last sold for (if it sold at all).

Here's one thread I found in a quick & dirty search -

http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=28940

Glock30 wrote that it sold for $184,000...

Doug Smith had one in Louisville 5 or 6 years ago that I held and we all talked about

Eric,

Next month's auction is a regional auction. I don't believe you will see first class collectibles in the regional auctions at RIA.

They save the good material, and rightly so, for the Premier Auctions.

Therefore, I'm not sure you can draw conclusions about price, scarcity or demand from next month's auction.

Best,

John

The pistol with light at auction was from Doug Smith's collection. It is not a Third Reich era pistol but predates that time. The assumption is that it was carried by an SA body guard during Hitler's early political career. It is a 7.65 calibre commercial and had a really unique AKAH made break-away holster. I examined it in detail on several occasions and I have no doubt that it is authentic.

We ALL have that problem! There's even a medical term for it - 'Old Timers Syndrome'! :(

I know there's another thread on this flashlight-Luger here somewhere - I can remember posting a pic of the right grip and commenting on it...

I found the other thread in our other sight! http://luger.gunboards.com/showthrea...sh+light+luger $184K Interesting Topic~ My question is who and how was it made? Obviously a custom made!! Were any others made and if so for whom and by whom? Eric

I must have missed the part about no battery pack being included, as I thought it was self-contained...Knowing that it needs a belt or backpack battery makes me think this is a waste of time and at $184K I could buy a lot of nicer things, collectible Lugers included...

You might be able to purchase a pair of 1902 Cartridge Counters and be allot hapier instead!!

Doug Smith first showed that pistol to me in his vault several years ago and asked if I thought he could get $20,000 for it. My reply back then was "sh:t Doug, you can get $100,000 for it".

I would be interested in creating a repro of this light device.
