Correct Take Down Tool?
 

I have a 1915 DWM Luger with x.x.R.M.G.x.x marking on the grip strap (frame). Numbers matching. Date matching holster also.

What would be the correct marking for the Take Down Tool for this gun? I have read they have many different makers / markings.

I thought maybe I'd hunt the correct one down. I'm 99% sure mine is a repro.

Jim, The proper WW1 era mag loading tool for your 1915 DWM PO8 will either be unmarked (available @$50) or an inspector marked (Crown over a letter) one, most commonly believed to have come from the Erfurt arsenal, for 2 to 3 times as much. TH

Jim, I assume that your 1915 DWM has one or two Crown/S acceptance stampings on the right side of the receiver. The correct tool would have a similar crown/S stamping and would have originally been blued when made by DWM.

I think one like this would be correct...

Are those x's really on the grip strap, or are they representative of actual numbers???

If you're substituting the x's for numbers, then the experts here can't tell you what German Army unit that pistol was issued to without the actual numbers.

If they're actual, then there may be other numbers underneath them. (They may be cross-outs).

Or they may be Russian capture crossouts. Are there other x's elsewhere on this Luger???

The actual number is on the grip strap is: 134 R.M.G. 167. I didn't have pistol in front of me when I wrote the email. Now the number is ingrained in memory! Klaus determined the regiment and location info; if anyone wants to know, I will post it.

George - yes the right side of the receiver has two, possibly three crown markings.. I will post pics soon.

Infantry Regiment 134 was from Saxony so you need to find a Saxon army belt buckle. These are somewhat common on Ebay.
