Need help identifying Nazi knife...

Hello all,

My father left this to me without any information whatsoever. I can see that it has the Swasitka but I'm not familiar with anything else about it.

Looks like a Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth) knife to me, though I'm certainly no blade expert.

Looks authentic, the RZM marking I believe means that it is an "official Nazi Party"-type object, and sold by the Party. The other marking on the blade is the maker's mark (Solignen?).

Others will chime in to corroborate or correct any errors I've made. Again, I'm far from an expert.

Danke! I appreciate the info. Does anyone have any idea of it's worth? I don't plan on selling it but it's always a good thing to know everything you can about an item. I think it'll be very nicely with my Luger collection. :)

Basically 318 Parabellum filled everything in. It is HJ as the colors indicate, RZM manufacture. Others should chime in with value. I have a pair of black bakelight luger grips with a diamond similar, but with black backround with SS superimposed, representing the Dutch SS.

I've seen them go for $200-$250.

Go to www.germandaggers.com for more updated information on this Hitler Youth knife.

Welcome and good luck!

Also, check E-bay and gunbroker. There are a lot of these out there and going price should be pretty easy to determine. I'm thinking that $200 is a high end price, but you'll see for yourself.

It all depends on the Maker. RZM is the most commom maker and $200 would be tops in nice shape. This example probably a bit less.

Thanks guys. That works! I'm going to add it to a Luger display so value is less important than authenticity. It looks to be in good shape and the real deal, and that's all I really care about. My Dad would probably like to see it displayed since he only kept it on a drawer in a disused office space. :)

Steve,
RZM wasn't actually a maker, but was the Stamp of the German manufacturing control commission and the RZM stamp was kind of in the same category as Patent Pending. The M7 51/39 marking identified Anton Wingen as the manufacturer.

Danke Lyn! I've been trying to figure that part out. If I assume correctly, the 39 represents the year of manufacture, 1939. Is that right?

Sergio Natali 04-20-2014 12:48 PM

I'm not an expert on knives, but for what I know there are plenty of fakes around, and pretty well made I heard.

Lyn Islaub 04-20-2014 09:48 PM

Yes, the number 39 is the year of manufacture.

I just saw this post and this is an Anton Winger double proof hitlers youth knife. The double proofs command a higher premium and this one could be worth $750 or more. Hard to judge based on photos

Those Nazis had a knife for just about every occasion...
