Expanded my Luger library
Someone on Ebay was selling a few Luger books and magazines and it seemed like a decent way to get some more good background material. Any comments on these, which are good/bad, etc?

http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps5b635fbb.jpg I do have a question about the Datig book, which appears identical print-wise to the one I already had (shown on the right) other than the dust cover and the thickness of the pages, which are thinner in the version on the left. Does anyone know the story of the dust jackets? http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps08166133.jpg |
I own just about all. They are good reference but quite old although still revelent, Yes buy! Then try to find Jans' 4 red luger books! You never have enough ~~Ultimate the three volume set 'Bourchardt & Lugers" Which are hardcore!! The dust jacket are rare and enhance their value and almost 70 years old! You will never have enough lugers or their books! I'm a luger junky~~~Eric

All the books you show are out-of-date, and some only contain minimal information. If you are serious there are many better (and regrettably more expensive) alternatives.

Dwight - that may be the case, but if you try to buy them from Amazon (even used) you will pay far more than double what I had to pay for them. So I think they were worth it.

If you have not read them they are new in every way, except condition!

Mark,
First of all welcome to this forum of Luger enthusiasts. I think yours it's a pretty good start! And it shows your interest towards these beautiful guns. You'll soon realize that the matter is pretty complex, and I'm sure you'll find yourself looking for a more exhaustive study of the Luger. If I can give you an advice, start reading the books you've got, follow this forum, then slowly start looking for other more detailed books, for instance quite a few were written by some of the members of this forum. My 2 cents. Sergio |
