1917 DWM All Matching

I know...well nothing about Lugers so I appreciate any and all information on this. The person wants $700 for it, but I'm trying for $600.

Is it a good buy and does it look safe to shoot?

Sorry for the lack of any really info on my end. I just know very little about Lugers besides a love of the look of them.

The Good: It has all the correct markings and the serial numbers match everywhere I can see (including the magazine) except for the side plate, which is unmarked. I don't know if this part was not always marked, if the number got scrubbed off or if it is a replacement part. Markings are all clear and the barrel looks fine.

The Bad: The finish is rough. Has a good deal of pitting on the gun as the pictures show.

welcome to the forum

pictures are too small to see anything and its better to post pictures here

can't tell you if its safe - the old 'have it checked by a gunsmith' is the only safe thing to say from us

most any 9mm is worth $600-$800 / depending on condition, looks, etc.

Even at $600, low for a Luger, I'm not all that fizzed up on it. To me, IMHO, pitting is a real deal killer, simply because, again TO ME, it makes the gun hard to look at.
I'm not saying it's not worth $600, but it is no deal of the century, to be sure.

Um...It says 1918 on the chamber...

I would agree on the pits being a deal killer: I'd rather have a Luger with no bluing left and no pits than a 90%+ blue and pits...

BTW: It's new to me to see the suffix on the barrel...And such a large comma on the land diameter...Not any kind of 'red flag', just new to these old eyes...

This one's been rode really hard and put up wet..

Well on thing I was considering is that I can get a new barrel and just store the old one. Though cost of barrel and gunsmith work could make it the same as other shooter Lugers. My goal is really a shooter luger.I do love thay nitro blue..as little of it that remains.

Oh yeah 1918...whoops I think I was looking at a different thread title and got it mixed up.

Anyway I appreciate the advice I know German small arm's are a sea of heavy duty detail and also fake stamps, RCs, and well lots of stuff above my pay grade. Hence me seeking out advice here and two other boards.
