new luger pls help with ID

The magazine looks after-market, rather than period.

You have the million dollar chip on the left grip.

The trigger and safety lever left the factory in strawed finish on this gun. Photos look blued.

I can't make out details of the markings. You'll get better pictures by using a digital camera rather than cellphone type camera; set it on closeup; use a tripod and use the self timer to eliminate camera shake. Shoot in indirect (shaded) sunlight.

The chip is a tiny bit of wood chipped away behind the safety lever, caused by carelessly lifting the lt. grip panel up during removal.
Lots of Lugers have it, and that alone does not a shooter make.
I'll take a leap here and let's assume that the gun is numbers matching except the magazine. If that is correct then I would call it a lower end collectable gun.
On the other hand I may be seeing a mismatched takedown lever, and the blued finish on certain parts may suggest other parts from other periods. That would probably make if a shooter.
It shows lots of wear, but it looks like honest wear and it has a story to go with each of its scars.
What is the asking price or sale price, and what are you wanting to do with it?
While it will probably shoot fine, that old of a gun MAY be more prone to breaking parts, which will kill it's value considerably IF it is matching now.
We need to know if it is matched or not, price, etc, and we'll go from there.

This gun appears to have some reblue (likely cold blue) on it, that can account for the "blue" appearance on strawed parts. I would say it's worth $900, but ONLY if all the numbers match.

I would bet the grips are not original (there is a slim chance they might be) - they just look too nice given the condition of the rest of the gun, and most if not all 1918 Lugers have beech grips, not walnut.

Welcome to this forum of Luger enthusiasts.

Mine doesn't want to be a criticism at all, it's a nice gun, but it has been in parts rebuffed and probably the walnut grips are not original, then it jumps to my eye that they seem a bit too new for the age of the Luger.

thanks for all your input. i bought this for 1235 including shipping. i bought it online. i guess i paid too much. the gun is all matching but i noticed the magazine is too new looking. there is no number on the center toggle pin. I supposed they were also numbered. The firing pin is numbered tot he gun.
Its a learning experience. i learned how to field strip it and put it back together. i found a problem with resetting the firing pin. I bought a couple of sear springs from luger doc and i am hopeful it will fix the problem. If not thats ok. i know what to look for next time :-)
