Hi All,
My first was a midnight black 1965 Pontiac GTO Sports Coup, 389 tri-power, four speed, with 360 horses. My first Luger came in 1977, that I still proudly own. Sieger |

What engine did your Chevy have, the 327 or the 396? Sieger |
Both. I have told this before, but I got my first Luger, first car and met my future wife in 1957. I still have the wife (Sarah) and car (1930 Model A Ford Sport Coupe)!

I had my first car I think in 1981, it was a small Leyland "Mini Clubman Estate", for what can count my first Luger arrived roundabout in 1960! ...
... but that was a squirter... Jokes apart I bought my first "real" one only about 10 years ago. |
My Chevy Malibu had a 283 engine and our first was a 1960 Ford Fairlane with a 190 hp!

In 1956 (my first year sailing on the Great Lakes) I purchased my 1st car (1950 2 door Ford coup, and from my first ore boat(S.S. Smith Thompson) ordered by mail my 1st luger $25.00+ $5.00 for extra select. Also bought in Ashland a Ruger for $43.00 and a S&W K.22 for $63.00. When the Luger arrived at my home in Erie Pa. the Postman ask my mother if he could look at it as he had one he brought back from the war. The Ruger and K22 I still have and the K22 with original box paper work and cleaning rod is now worth about $650.00. Luger I gave to a nephew about 15 years ago before I renewed my interest in them. Next time I see him I am going to give it a good going over as I now know a little more about them. Car is long gone....

Car was a 1961 Ford Galaxie 500 4 door. Paid $50.00 for it in 1966. Drove it for 2 years and traded it on a new 1968 Chevy Nova 6 cylinder. First Luger was a 1941 byf 41 I purchased from the vet who brought it home. Came with a holster, and belt with buckle and two mags... all of them are gone.

John I think I found your baby! http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z...d-Galaxie.aspx

Close, but no cigar Eric. Mine was an ugly green metallic in color and a 4 door... but I appreciate the gesture...

Got my first car in 1978, a Volvo PV 444 from 1953. It had a 1400cc B4B engine with a whopping 44hp, and I'd say that about half of them horses where dead. It still served as my daily driver for several years. Have had many cars since then, the more noteworty ones were a 13-second '71 Camaro, a tubbed '63 Chevy II that I didn't get to finish (had to sell when I moved to the US), and now a '69 Chevelle. I have a pretty good gun collection, but I didn't get my first Luger until maybe 5-6 years ago. I have added two project guns since then, now if I could just complete them...

car first, my own, not folks car was a Pinto in about 1977, red in color, handeled well, but was gut less than after that was a VW Dasher - did not have a fun car till I was mid-life ;)
First luger was an Erfurt Artillery in about 1984 - sold a python in Hawaii and used the money for a luger - its hard buffed and reblued, but shoots great, its still here with me :) |
Got my first car in 1978, a banana yellow '74 Chevy Vega with chocolate brown wraparound racing stripe (went from one front quarter panel, over the roof and back to the other front quarter panel). My parents bought it for me, I would not have picked either the make or coloring of that car had I been given the choice!
Didn't get my first Luger till after I spoke to you guys in April of 2012 ( though got my first real gun in 1977, a .44 cal 1851 Navy Colt replica kit gun). Still have my first Luger from almost 2 years ago but that first car was gone in 1979! |
First car 1953 Mercury bought in 1956 before I got out of the Navy in 1957. First luger 41 BYF in 1957. Sold it for $40 while in college. All matching with one matching mag and holster. Bill

If we're talking absolutes here... the first automobile was 1885, was made by Carl Benz in Germany:
http://www.daimler.com/dccom/0-5-132...0-0-0-0-0.html I actually saw this vehicle on a trip to Stuttgart several years ago. It's on display at the Mercedes Benz museum there... It was still running, and running well. While I was there, it was taken off the display platform, and a VIP was given a ride in it. Since the first Luger came about 10 years later, looks like the car came first!!! That's also my personal case. My first car was a 1967 Plymouth Fury III station wagon. It was a land yacht, with 440 carb and about 7 mpg. Marc |
Y'all make me feel young, heh. 1st car was a 1986 Chevy Chevette I had as an undergraduate in 1994 and 1995. Parents sold it (with my permission) after I joined the Army in 1996. Great little car, 4sp manual, rack and pinion steering, cloth seats. Baby blue, as I recall. First car I bought was a grey 1986 BMW 525e in 1998 when I first was assigned to Germany. Traded that for my baby, a 1983 BMW 525i, 5sp manual, sport seats, factory front air dam and trunk spoiler, Hamann alloys. Bahama Beige metallic paint with factory amber tinted windows. Damn, that car was fast, would do an honest and sustained 140mph+ on the autobahn. I almost re-enlisted just to keep that car... It wasn't eligible for import into the US back in 2000. I saw a lot of Europe out of the windows of that car. Some of my best memories!!
1st Luger came much later, in 2005 while I was living in Richmond. I found my c-block byf 42 at "Bob Moates' Sport Shop" there. I still have it, and will never sell. |

In 1967, a really nice Luger could still have been bought, from a private individual, for $35.00. Sieger |
