WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY, "BARREL RELINING"
 

I was curious as to the term, "barrel relining" or relined barrel. Does anyone know??

A worn out barrel can be bored out to oversized diameter and then a new rifled steel tube is inserted to create a new bore of the desired caliber....barrel within a barrel so to speak...

What does this process usually cost. For instance, if I had a worn out barrel in my P-38, on the average what would it cost to do this. Or even more, perhaps on a K98 barrel. I know of no military grade K98 replacement barrels anywhere that are new, same for the P-38.

you might check with the gun parts corp at www.e-GunParts.com I think they might have some new barrels for the 98's

I have seen surplus military Israeli Model 98 barrels for sale
 

I just can't remember where at the moment... but they are available... Try some judicious searches and you will find them on the internet.

Here are the names and addresses of a couple of companies that do barrel relining. The prices quoted are for C96 Brooms, I think, but it should be close for a Luger. By relining, you can keep the original stamps on the barrel. Thor has reworked 1-2 relined barrel Luger and the job was good he said. Here is the information for what it is worth. I have heard of Redman's, and the information I got was that they were good.

Gun Rack does a super job and even test fires gun

CAN IT BE RELINED IN THE ORIG., 9MM?
 

Question is though, can a shot out 9mm Luger or P-38 barrel be relined back to its original 9mm again? I have heard that it could not, but then again, what do I know.
