P08 s/n 2960

Hello all I am new to this forum.
The name is Martin I joint this forum to learn more about Luger pistols, mostly the gun smithing part of it.

I lost a P08, I had from the old country that was given to me by a old friend and resistance fighter .
The gun was taken from a raid on a V2 launching site in my home town.

A magazine article made me want a Luger back.
Since I live in Canada our handguns with barrels shorter than 4" are so dangerous that they are declared prohibited .
A 100mm Luger barrel is to short.

I bought a Luger s/n 2960 ( don't know manufacturer ) and have it sent to a gunsmith to have it rebarreled to 4.050" (5mm longer) this will make it a not so dangerous gun and then can be reclassified to restricted.

I bought the gun for $675 the rebarreling $300 I just hope it all works out.

I wonder if anybody can shine some light on this gun all I have seen is pic and I don't know how to post pics

Regards Martin

Martin welcome to The forum.

There are several how to's in the. New collector area at the top of the forums that tell you how to post pictures. Ensure you also tell us any markings on it, suffix, etc.

Welcome Martin,

If you want to collect Lugers in Canada, you can still buy Artillery, Navy, 1900 & 1906 Lugers, yes? These all have barrel longer than 4". (I might want to move there).

Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

We have members on this forum that are from Canada and that occasionally buy and sell them. Hopefully you'll hear from them also... They should be very familiar with the laws as they apply to collectible handguns in Canada.

Thanks for the reply Gents
The pics I have do not show enough detail all it shows is the s/n .
It will be some time before I actually get to see the gun the gun will be transferred to my friends lic. ( He has a prohibited lic) he then will send it to the gunsmith who will do the rebarreling and reclassification .
The gun then will be a restricted ,I have a restricted lic. and then can buy it from him. pffff.
I will try to post the pics soon.
regards Martin

Having to jump through "hoops" tells me that you REALLY want a Luger!! Good for you, and welcome to the forum. I had to do something similar to own a full auto a number of years back. It was all worth it to me.
