What is the use of this 'ramp'?

Hi,
I just noticed that some lugers have this piece and others not, what's the use of the 'ramp' as I don't know the right name for it.
Here is a pictures of the part I'm talking. The piece before the rear of the hold open latch:

Thanks for the info.

It really isn't a ramp. It is an inner brace within the frame.

Ok but what's the use of this? Is it needed to work or not? As I have one with it and one that's just flat

It is integral with the frame and is not removeable. If there is no holdopen as in early Luger pistols, the entire area where the holdopen normally appears is solid one piece with this support.

It is a structure component providing strength to the frame assembly. It is supposed to be flat. Is yours different? If so, please post clear focus closeup photographs.
