Unusual Parabellums at Simpson Ltd.
 

Simpson has listed two rare MAUSER Parabellum pistols: a Model Sport (heavy barrel target model) and a pre-production model.

These are worth a look.

are these Sturgess guns, I noticed they are listing ones that did not go up for auction. That is a heck of a collection...

that is a big price.

Both pistols are rare but the 11.00.1002 is really a great early pre-production model.
In our book we described the 10.00.1002 that is the equivalent in .30 Luger.

From looking at the photos on Simpson Ltd.`s website, it seems to me that pistol 11.00.1002 is a mix of Swiss 29 and new Mauser parts.

The frame, grip safety, grips, and assorted small parts look to me to be from the 06/29 Swiss Luger. The receiver, toggle assembly, and barrel appear to be of new Mauser manufacture.

The magazine with the number 7 is of later issue for a 7.65 Luger.

Any thoughts out there?

Mauser initially produced a batch of parts based on the Swiss drawings, but they soon corrected their mistakes. These 'Swiss style' parts found their way into early (pre)production pistols and in some presentation models.

That said, the grips and grip safety on the Simpsons pistol are Swiss made indeed. Not something Mauser did.

The early presentation models have been well analysed in our book and they all have a "special" configuration, result of internal tests to achieve the final design.
Most of them, in caliber 7,65 mm therefore with the sn starting with "10" have been donated to Mauser Management, the list of the receivers has been published in the book.
The presentation pistols in 9mm have been all produced using Mauser parts in October 1969, the 1002 has been sent to the Development Department for test on date 15th October 1969.
