P-38 Question
 

I saw a P-38 some time ago for $700.00 it was a byf 44 with matching holster, in excellent condition. The woman said her father bought it thinking it was a Luger. I passed it up was that a mistake? ,Brandon

Depending on complete condition, matching parts, bore condition, all sets the price. It seems to be on the high side of what I have seen out there. Ken..

Could have been a good buy or too much...There are several variations of the BYF44. Condition?...type of holster.. Markings.. condition? spare Mag? Condition?


Your posting raises many questions...it is kind of like asking ''what is a car worth?'' Usually, if you don't know what you are buying, it is best to pass on it unless it is SOOOOO CHEAP that you cannot miss?

Looked like a police holster, It didn't have a spare mag.

All the parts matched, mag included. The proof marks I can't really remember. So if that tells you anything else, Thanks for the info ,Brandon

Mauser never numbered their mags...if it is numbered, it is most likely a gun that was used in E. Germany? Many were reblued, too.
