Looks like a reblue to me. Bill

alanint 01-22-2014 09:42 AM

Unquestionably a reblue.

Hi Fellas, The seller does describe it as having been professionally reblued. However, even with the poor photos posted there are enough signs to lead me to suspect that this Navy is a ground-up fabrication. The 1917 on the front sight block, for example.
Regards, Norm
P.S. Welcome to the forum, Thorsten!

I would tend to agree. This is the second Navy gun out of Europe that has been questionable. It would seem there is a new "mechanic" out there.

Aha! That would explain why the 'manual' is written in German...

Rich,
Where in the heck did you find that manual?! That is a hoot!! :)

Rebuffed, then is a 1917. :nono:

a) is a complete fake
b) it's one of the many 1917 refurnished.

I'm really looking forward to hear what our Navy Luger experts are going to say about it.

George Anderson 01-22-2014 12:58 PM

It appears that it may be an original refinished 1917 dated P04 with a modern replacement barrel

used one of the online translation sites to get this out of the ad:

Auctioneer here a P 08 Navy, DWM 1917. The weapon is up to the magazine in all parts matching numbers (including the handles). Magazine stamped with large numbers. Running a mirror finish. The gun has been professionally re-blued. Due to the sublime, deep stamp I am assuming that a revision has not taken place. Even otherwise, no noticeable usual revision marks. The previous owner had probably joy of optical perfection. Personally, I'm assuming that not even the Neubrünierung would have been required. The gun has no Neubeschuss, therefore only sell to owner of corresponding purchase of firearms. Private auction. Shipping is legally compliant with Overnite and is not negotiable. Shipping abroad only on German exporter (eg weapons Bock). I will gladly answer your questions about the gun or send to request more detailed photos. Preview and pickup no problem and encouraged.
