My "REAL" first Luger

Back in the early 80's, I was obsessed with world war 1&2 movies, books and guns. I finally convinced my parents to buy me an MGC replica P-08 Luger.

You bought the kit and built the gun. It came with brass cartridges that you loaded with small plastic caps. The end result was almost like the real deal. Blowback action that simulated all the sights, sounds and even the gunpowder smell.

It was a little advanced for an 11 year old but I built it and shot it. 34 years later and I finally bought a real DWM Luger from 1913.

Where was my model gun? Well, I went rooting through my parents house tonight and dug it out of some boxes that were in my old room. Here it is:

Thanks for the look-see, Joe. I've seen a couple shown off and fired on YouTube, and I must admit to desiring one, even now. I've noticed that they currently command a significant chunk of change as collectables. You must have had a blast with this thing! (Maybe you will again, soon?!)

Will its grips fit the DWM? The mag?

The mags are not interchangeable. Real mag is too fat. Have not tried the grips yet. I can't seem to locate the rounds. Have to keep digging. Went online and they are $50 for 10. Ouch.

I kinda wish I had not "played" with it so much growing up. Its got a little battle damage. Lol. I think I got mine in 1981-82 for about $90. That was alot back then. Now they are over $300 and that is for used ones. I like mine because it does not have the orange barrel plug. Built in a time when toy guns were more civilized.
