G-Date Sighted
A G-date passed through my LGS while I was picking up my Nambu...G above chamber, S/42 toggle, all the numbers I could see matched (owner let me field strip it), aluminum base mag, magazine number matched and had the +, I would guess 90%+ blue remaining, bore excellent...
I only mention it because of the price the buyer paid...$250.00... Sorry, I didn't have my smartphone or digi-cam with me... :( Buyer didn't know much about Lugers; I showed/told him as much as I could remember from here about G-dates & Lugers...He lives locally [Duh!]; if I run into him again I'll try to get pics... |
why in the world would the local gun store let it go for only $250?

It was one of those "My father sold it years ago, dad passed away, owner sold it back to me for what dad charged him, way back when"... It came back home... |

I wonder where I can get about 20 of these!!?

I know I'm late to this thread, looked at an all matching 41 BYF bw today at a certain chain outdoors store. 70% finish left. Asking $2700 firm! Buddy works there, tells me what they paid the poor sap who brought it in... $700!
Where was I when he brought it in? I would at least gave the guy an extra $200 to make $1000. |
$2700?! Gotta be Gander Mountain. That's the only chain that I know of that so ridiculously overprices their used guns.
Their store here is infamous for having dozens of worn-out Beretta 92 police trade-ins priced just below what a NIB one would cost. What kind of avaricious so and so prices a 70% finish byf 41 that high? I couldn't get screwed worse at a gun show from some unscrupulous dealer if I tried! ETA: Oh, I see that the P. 08 in question is one of the so-called "black widow" guns, which apparently are 'hot' right now. Still, $2700 is a hell of a premium to pay to be suckered by some dealer's marketing schtick, though I must admit, the black plastic grips *are* cool. |
