The finished one shown is available for $3750.00 but is not included in this auction. Please pass this information on to any and all your friends who may be interested in Nambu Pistols. I don't know the gentleman, nor do I have a Grandpa (or Papa) Nambu that it would attach to...

...But it is interesting... :)

(I'll let someone else look up the BATFE exemption) :D

its pretty cool, but at half the price of an original (although I have never seen an original sold by itself) and it still needs to be assembled and finish work on it...

Ed, I can see he's caught your interest...Is he a member here???

I'm thinking...Luger prototype shoulder-stock/holster... :D

Maybe an email/PM to GB suggesting such an offering would be interesting... :)

(PM to Pistol Bill on GB sent!) ;)

I got a reply from 'Pistol Bill' to my question about [perhaps] making repros of the Luger prototype stock/holster -

12-31-13

Phil,
I can't say I have considered making the hollow luger stock only because I have one. What made me make the nambu stock was the need for 2 of them, and finding an original is near impossible.
I won't say never.
Bill

I also invited Bill to join us here on LF... :)

This is an exceptional expert handmade reproduction of a shoulder stock for the Model 1902 (small type) "Grandpa" Nambu pistol. Including a handmade reproduction cleaning rod. You will not believe the quality of workmanship on this stock which was also used as a holster. Fire blued screws and blued metal parts. Wood appears to be oak with a light coat of varnish to finish. Very impressive quality

here's an original for comparison

Quote:

These early 1902 Nambu pistol shoulder stock/holsters were heavily influenced by the 1896 Mauser pistol design that utilized a similar combination wooden shoulder stock/holster that attaches to the rear of the grip strap. The stock on this example appears to be of the later, larger version that has been serial numbered in only two places: 1) on the underside of the collar around the telescoping metal extension and 2) on the rear edge of the shoulder strap plate, which still has the original leather shoulder strap attached. Unlike the Mauser design these Japanese stocks have a short all metal telescoping extension that allows the overall stock to be more compact when stored, which can be fully extended to the correct length to function, akin to a short rifle design.

I believe Papas are also cut for a stock. They seem to be reasonably priced, if GB is any indication. I'm tempted...

...For a Papa, not the stock. Maybe we can talk Ed into having one made for his Nambu... :roflmao:
