German Belt - US Parts

5 Attachment(s)
I had this on here a few years back. Didn't get much response. Curious if this was a war item or after or what.

German WWI belt with American belt? and rifle sling? parts. One part has Studebaker 1917, another Rock Island Arsenal 1918. Other marks B322 and BC.106. Ideas anyone? Thanks.

Bill, Fascinating! Can you show how the buckle adjustment tongue is sewn in?

Here they are, Jerry. If you need more, let me know.

Bill, The buckle hook and the tongue look to be German Saddler put together..Only thing I can figure is they used a US belt as a basis.
From the way the leather fills the buckle I guess the belt is 1 3/4 inches wide?

Jerry
Yes 1 3/4 wide. Any idea on the unit marks? Bill

Bill, I don't have time to study unit marks..I wish I did! It would be fascinating. George Anderson is one of the best guys I know of for unit marks.
I just look at construction, craftsmanship and techniques for clues. Some things we will never know. Your belt has a LOT of markings on it though! I think the tongue had to be made for just what it is..The hole number, width etc. is unique to a German belt.
I forget who posted it but not long ago a Forum member posted a German photo of a Sattler out in the field with quite a number of leather items piled up for repair. One of the first such photo's I have ever seen!
I suspect a guy like that made up a German combat belt from a captured US belt. I would love to hear this belt tell it's story!

Anybody have any idea what the unit marks are on this belt. Thanks Bill
