Restoration of a ground-off stock lug.

There have been many discussions on repairing Lugers whose stock lug has been ground off...

I just tripped across this advertisement on GunBroker that may be of interest to those who are considering having this done...

I have no knowledge of the identity of the offeror, or the quality of work... I just pass it on for the general knowledge that someone is doing this work...

I hope that owners of H.P. and S.W.II. marked Lugers that had the stock lugs removed by the police at the insistence of French occupiers don't obliterate an important part of their history this way.

Don, thanks very much for adding your caution...

I only posted the information on this service for those unfortunate owners of Artillery and Navy shooter grade guns with ground stock lugs to be able to restore their guns to shooting condition with the appropriate type stock if they choose to invest in the repairs.

Anyone who considers such a repair should first inquire here on the forum about historical value of their Luger before attempting such a permanent repair/restoration.

I notice that his price has risen by $100--used to be $450. Can't say I'm upset by the increase, as restoring a stock lug this way requires a ton of work. The approach to restoring my Artie's lug would section out the damaged area and replace with appropriate chunk from the donor frame segment I got from G.T. a couple of years ago. Refinishing the surfaces of the work zone would remain the same, but integrating the replacement structure in this way would be lots easier. For those who need a restoration of the lug, the latter approach would likely be much more affordable (Tom Heller said he has frame segments from $25-up) than this man's procedures.
