Help with Navy Luger
10 Attachment(s)
Have a chance to pick up this Luger at a reasonable price. But would like some help from the experts. I think it is a reworked 1906 altered navy. All numbers match except one grip panel & magazine. The firing pin is unnumbered. It looks like on the back of the grip WK has been X'ed out and I.S.B. stamped. It's not in the best shape as far as finish but the price is right. Any help you can offer about this Luger would be greatly appreciated.

ken, Looks like an honest old sailor to me...I took a quick look and didn;t see any red flags. Personally I would have an interest in one like this somewhere around $2200 if all matching and a good bore. Navy pistols are rare and desirable..even if a little worn. But I am cheap..

Hi Ken, It looks like an honest, unmessed with gun to me. The See Batallion property marking is both scarce and desirable. What else do you want to know?

Thanks I appreciate the help. Should the firing be numbered? How bad is the value effected by one grip panel not numbered and the magazine not matching? What do you think would be a fair price to pay for this gun in the condition it's in. Does the ISB mean sea battalion?

Hi Ken, Firing pins on Imperial Navy Lugers were unnumbered. The one unnumbered grip is no big deal. If you can buy this gun for less than $2,500.00 you're doing well.

Thanks I am going to buy it. I feel much better about getting it after your input. Any hints on cleaning it and preserving it? I know you shouldn't use steel wool or anything abrasive.

I would tell you to use great caution when lifting the left grip panel out of place to avoid chipping it behind the safety. But...
Really, just careful cleaning with powder solvent, and light oil everywhere except the grips. A very nice old gun. dju |
Thanks for the tip about the grips will make sure to be careful.
