Unit Description on a 1910 P08

I have a 1910 P08 handed down to me by my Father. He took it from a surrendering German Officer toward the end of WWII. The grip has the following Unit Description: 13.T.S.1.54

Can anyone tell me what unit that is?

Also, it does not have a hold open latch and spring. I originally thought it was missing/lost but I have seen some references to the fact that some of the earlier models did not include the hold open latch - is that correct for a 1910 model?

Thanks.

Yes, that would be correct for a 1910, which was never upgraded with the holdopen. Most holdopens started appearing on factory guns around 1913.

The unit marking indicates that it was a medic's gun; Train Battalion 13, 1st Sanitaets Compagnie, Waffe 54. The unit was part of the 13th Army Corps from Wuertemberg. Many Wuertemberg issued P08s were never retrofitted with hold-opens.

Thanks for the info.

May I know the serial number with letter suffix?

The serial number is 4945. No suffix.

I am (hopefully) attaching a photo of the proof markings on the right side. Any idea what they mean? It also has DWM on the top.

Sorry. I guess I never looked at the serial number that close before. There is a small letter 'c' below the serial number.

I have a 1910 I have ownedfor 45 years.
It has a hold open. I believe there is a little proof mark by where it was added.
Away from home for a few days and don't have the serial number.

It is marked to 1st Uhlans.

Yup, that's the suffix, and it is part of the complete serial number.
