I also was looking at 3 different lugers and all looked to be in very good condition but one thing jumped out to me, when the safety was in the fire position it then showed a perfect match to the safety lever of bare metal no bluing, I was told it was due to ware or is it due to being reblued or something else Thank You

Sammy, This part you are talking of is generally either strawed or in the white. I have rarely if ever seen a blued one except by an incompetent re-blue job. Jerry Burney

The area under the safety was lightly milled out after the pistol had been blued. When the bright area left by the milling shows, it indicates that the safety is in the safe position. This was common to most but not all the 1900 models, and was was used on some models up through the 1906 models.

I believe this is what is called a "polished" safety.


Not to be confused with anything to do with Poland or Polish people...
