A novel Gun (hidden) Storage idea...
Just ran across these photos on a motorcycle forum I read... thought that those of you with similar indoor design could use the idea... it's nifty!

With the cat door looks like they hide the litter box there too. :)

Nice, but I would rather insert a real safe behind the book case. A friend of mine has a custom made safe build into a basement wall, with a large painting in front of it (kind of the classic way to hide it...). He also have air ducts leading to and from it, to keep the air circulating. I'm not sure about that part though, I figure that it could be a disaster in the case of a fire. I'd rather stick to Damp Rid or a Goldenrod.

An architect friend who has a multimillion NFA collection has en entire, reenforced concrete room with a similar bookcase opening at the end of a hallway. His is a two ton door that opens on a screw jack, but same idea.

The cat door would suggest to someone that there is open space behind. I do not think that I would have put that in.

He used a de-humidifier until about 4 years ago when I mentioned Damp Rid to him. |
WOW... & I was just going to go to IKEA today to look for display cabinets for my little space in the whole house to display my small collection of lugers.. I wonder what something like this would cost

To me this set-up is a little obvious. We all KNOW that there is empty space under a stairway! There is either a basement stairway or empty storage space under those stairs. A thief with enough time on the premises would most likely figure this out.

Anywho, Damp Rid will always work, so that's what I use in the gun safe. Checking the bucket now and then is no big deal, I'm there every day to pet my babies anyway. :) |

Well let me say that many years ago my (ex) wife used to say that my anti-burglar system of that time looked more like what you could see in the film "Home Alone" with Macaulay Culkin
