USPS whacky shipments

I like USPS and feel that I get stuff quick and safe using priority - yes I have heard the horror stories.

Well, this is a guy who is a bit picky, it is scheduled for Oregon and look where it is today...

I use the on-line USPS and it prints out the exact shipping address - I assume that some sorter manually saw 'Portland" and tossed it in the bin for Maine :D

Ed:
Ah, the magic of the postal system...

One likely explanation is if that parcel was sent "Parcel Select". That is a non-pre-sort method and it can go all the way across the country to a sorting facility.
Then it goes all the way back in the other direction, to its destination.

I deal with USPS stuff daily, and overall they do an excellent job. But when there is a problem, all you can do is bend over...

David..It will be awhile before it finds a sorting facility! They closed them all. To SAVE money. Last month I had a clients holster go between Denver and Phoenix 7 times before my PM sent a note to stop it and direct it to my CO address.
I agree they do a great job, I try to use them exclusively .

I also have tracked both USPS and UPS parcels as they travel back and forth between cities on either side of mine...

But one explanation has nothing to do with either service...If an air freighter/commercial flight has five empty 'sockets' and six pods filled to capacity, the skycaps loading that aircraft will strip one pod down on the spot and cram the parcels/mail into the other pods...regardless of where they are going...

As long as they're in transit, it's someone else's problem...

(Yes, I've observed this in person at the Buffalo NY airport) :)

I recently sent a payment to a gent in Germany for some Walther mags via "priority" mail, took 21days to arrive, another 1st class airmail letter to France 35!!! I believe it was quicker in the days of clipper ships.

priority is about all I use for non-gun items

use media from amazon
