New old grips

When I bought my first Luger a month or so ago it had repro grips on it. They weren't bad and actually fit pretty good. But it bothered me. The edges on the repros are a little fat. They just didn't look original to the trained eye.
A member on this forum had some and I just received them. They are 98% perfect. Just the right amount of holster wear. Nice dark patina.
I was worried about how they would fit as people on this forum said they rarely do from gun to gun.
So I had to file a little on both grips at the bottom edges and around the screw hole. Now they are a real tight fit. They look perfect. Like they were made for my gun.
They are numbered different but I am very very happy. The gun feels so much better in your hand.
I couldn't have found better ones. Thanks George. And thanks for holding on to them until my funds recovered from my recent wedding. All I need now is a period mag.
I know these changes don't really improve the value of the gun. But I don't buy these for the value. I buy them to enjoy. Is it weird how this gun stuff gives us so much enjoyment? Some people would think so. I don't....

First let me congratulate you on your recent wedding, that's great.Like you I am not into this hobby as a way for financial gain but strictly for the enjoyment, I'll let my heirs worry about selling my collection although I do keep detailed records of the date of purchase, year, make, model serial number and price paid to use as a guide. That being said I would like to wish you good luck and happiness in the future.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.....

Tony,

that's an old joke - but I think it has really happened.
