As per forum advice I purchased this pistol from a well respected collector here in NZ and am stoked with it. Really nice condition for her age and the barrel is simply geourgous! Never ceases to amaze me the quality of these old German pistols!
Wasn't sure weather to buy this pistol or a couple of old war horses... So I bought this pistol AND a couple of old war horses!
A Colt 1911 ( non nb matching ) plus a P38. Both combat pistols and surely showing their experiences, but I love them and respect there condition and history and look forward to preserving their condition and history. ( will post pics when they arrive ) :)

I used to collect old Colt 1911, while I'm not an expert on P.38, anyway congratulations for your PPK

You have good taste in guns. In the past few months I got a nice P38 and my first Luger. Next is a PP or 1911 depending on which I find first. But both are coming.
My wife says no more guns until January 1st so I am sitting on my hands.

Do not worry mate, you are in good company, still January 1st it's a long way ahead :-)

Hi,

I think your PP is later than 1938.
It has the E/N proof.

The Walther PP is one of my absolute favorite "pocket" pistols. Mine just fits below the top seam of my jeans, and makes no larger a bulge than a typical wallet full of cards... It is often my companion in the hot summer months.

Yours may not be a wartime gun, but it sure is a nice one.

Judging by what I can see of the serial number (166XXXP), your PP was made in 1940. Without Waffenamts, it's a commercial version.

I thought that winged eagle on the chamber and on the slide below the ejection port were waffenamts...

Learn something new every day... :)

The "Waffenamt" on that pistol should be an "Eagle over N" firing proof.

Update on my PP. It was indeed made in 1940, for the Swiss police.
